Laser Fungal Nail treatment what to expect

The laser will gently warm you nail you might feel a little heat but the discomfort will be minimal. If the heat bothers you we can stop and go onto the next nail. Most patients tolerate the laser on their toe nails extremely well, and there is no need for a local anesthetic. The procedure lasts less than half an hour and patients can return to work on completion of the session. You can even play sport straight after the session. The toe nail will look exactly the same after treatment, but the fungal elements should be dead. The toenail will continue to grow normally and little change will be seen for the first 3 to 4 months. Eventually you will see a clearing at the base of the nail as the new nail grows out. It will take approximately 12 months for the nail (and dead fungus) to grow out.
